Our Story

Hi, we’re Kiara and Enrique.

We started Barkful after looking at a bag of treats and wondering why something so simple had to be so complicated — our dogs, Stella and Willow, don’t need artificial colors or ingredients we can’t pronounce. So we began making treats the way we cook for our own family: real protein, hand-sliced, gently dehydrated, nothing extra. We still make everything ourselves — no co-manufacturers, no shortcuts — just simple food made by real people, for dogs we love.

Because at the end of the day, Barkful isn’t just about treats.

It’s about giving our dogs the same care and quality we give the rest of our family.

Made for Stella. Shared with You.

My story begins with Stella —she was the pickiest eater. She’d turn her nose up at almost every treat we brought home. When we looked closer at the ingredient panels, we understood why. So we started making our own: real protein, hand-sliced and gently dehydrated, nothing extra. When Stella couldn’t resist them, we knew we had something worth sharing.

Where It All Started

Barkful was built at the farmers market (since 2020). We started by selling them face-to-face to our Atlanta community. Every week, we watched picky eaters light up, heard stories from devoted pet parents, and refined our recipes based on real feedback.

Those market mornings shaped everything. They taught us that quality matters, transparency matters, and community matters most. Barkful didn’t just grow from an idea, it grew from the people (and dogs) who showed up for us.

Our Mission

Barkful was started by Kiara and Enrique (husband & wife duo) with one goal: to raise the standard for dog treats.

This photo was taken at our very first trade show at SuperZoo last year, 2025 — just the two of us, a tiny table, and a belief that dogs deserve real food.

We’re still that same hands-on team. Still obsessed with quality. Still choosing simplicity over shortcuts.
